About Maddie & Diesel

Dam – Maddie

Maddie is one of our very special girls. It was chance and a friend who brought her to us and we couldn’t be more pleased with her as a companion both at home and in the field. She retrieved her first chukar at 10 weeks running out of the field to bring it to me, much to Mike’s displeasure. Maddie is an exceptional mom and I look forward to watching her with this litters as we did the first.f

Maddie’s Hunting Lab Pedigree

Sire – Diesel

Diesel is owned by Sydney Thompason at Savannah Bluff Retrievers. When I found them I knew I wanted him to sire Maddie’s puppies. Diesel has acheived a lot with Sydney and we look for to see how many more titles they get together. Diesel is a well rounded dog with both a very sweet temperament but he turns it on in the hunting field. It is a pleasure to hunt with both Sydney and Diesel.

1.3.24 Blue Collar Male

Blue Collar – Male

“Drake

Drake was our first pick of the males and that decision was made by his new family on Thursday, March 13th. Drake is going to be living the life of a duck hunting dog! His new home is in Michigan with a wonderful family and I look forward to having him guide me  on a duck hunt when the time is right. Drake had a really new first for the group with the arrival to home with snow on the ground!

Pink Collar – Female

“Synda”

Synda is already so loved by her new family at home as well as her new office family plus those who are going to go out with her in the hunting fields. She is going to have the live of a true princess! I am already loving the updates about her and know we will be seeing her soon through her hunting adventures!

Purple Collar – Female

“Roma”

Roma was requested before she was born based on the traits of Valda from the first litter. Well, Roma is so much like Valda, I had slips ups from Roma to calling her Valda! Valda’s girl is already loving on her so much! She is on her way to Florida and will live the life of a water dog with her girl! Big plus is that she will have visits with litter mate Astrid and big sister Valda, plus a suprise in the mix!

Green (& Orange) Collar – Male

“Balto”

We love surprises! After picking up Roma, Balto’s family just could not stand it and came back the next day to take Balto to his forever home! Look at that face! He is going to live up to his name as a hero. When I got the text they were considering, they gave me more info and I just knew it was to be! He is going to be so loved and living the life in Florida with litter mate Roma!

Red Collar – Female

“Astrid”

Astrid is home with big sister Valda from the first Maddie~Diesel litter. We will get to see Astrid often here at the club when she comes with Valda and get to see her older sister Delta and litter mates Cash and Luna. When it was asked which one was most like Delta, there was no questions. Astrid is her other litter mini. It’s going to be fun seeing her interact with her big sister Delta…and to see if she is as fast as Delta! Game on!

Tan Collar – Male

“Cash”

Austin’s Upland Midnight Man in Black “Cash” will be staying here with us at Ausitn Gun Club! We are so excited to add Cash to our crew and you can look for us in the hunting field be it upland or water fowl as well as the field trails. Cash shows a lot of potential and we are excited to watch him go and go along for the ride!

Denim Blue Collar – Male

“Rip”

What a boy Rip is and will be! And, what a loving, duck hunting family he is going to! I can’t wait to see the pictures of him and his 14 year old girl on their first duck hunts together. Rip has always been full of personality and we are so excited for him and his new family as they begin  a lot of new adventures together!

Maroon Collar – Female

“Luna”

Luna is going to be close as she will be our youngest son’s companion be it as a couch potato or as a hunter. She will aslo get to have lots of quality time with litter mate Cash as well as big sister Delta. Watch for Luna in the upland fields and don’t be suprised if you find her in a duck blind or on a field trial test or just hanging with her new boy!

Pup-Dates

Puppies are Here! December 19, 2024!

Maddie delivered 8 healthy, beautiful puppies. It was a long day with puppy watch starting with a drop in temperature on Wednesday night and a second lower temp on Thursday morning. For a while, it didn’t seem like anything was happening. She didn’t have the typical panting, restlessness, etc. like we have seen other dogs exhibit and her first litter was…Oh, it’s time! Talk about two totally different prelabor and delivery experiences with her.

Late afternoon things started to progress, but I kept telling her…go ahead, let’s pop these puppies out! Our first puppy, the blue collar black male was delivered at 6:15 PM. Time between puppies varied A LOT! Some came quick after each other and others not so quick, but we are more than thrilled with the group of healthy puppies.

Stay tuned as I update progress as it happens!

Day 3 for the Puppies!

The puppies have all been gaining weight and are healthy and LOUD! Lots of those cute little squeeks and their job right now is to sleep and eat, eat and sleep and on it goes.

Maddies is such a good mom! Very attentive and loving her babies.

Today, Day 3, is when we start the Early Scent Introduction and Early Neuro Stimulation. We do this every day for the next 16 days. Check out the links below for information on both of these programs that we utilize to help the puppies develop and become the best dogs they can be.

Early Scent Introduction

Early Neurological Stimulation

OH MY! How we have grown!

I have so much fun with our puppies and just couldn’t wait until tomorrow to post as they are changing so fast and developing new skills.

The puppies are 20 days old today. Eyes are all open, ears too, and they are on the go. They are also starting to play with each other with the cute little puppy barks, which sometimes gives them a startle in learning they can bark, along with puppy bites and pawing. Of course the tumbles are too cute.

Tomorrow we will be busy with new weights, nail trims and pictures but enjoy the video from this mornings play time.

Currently all females have been spoken for and first pick of the black males (we are just waiting to hear which one). We are so excited for them and their new families as we know they are going to be well loved and have lots of grand adventures.

Available are the chocolate male and two of the black males.

Week 5!

So much has changes for the little guys and gals!

We are playing, eating solid food, mom is starting to wean, and more.

Currently we have 2 males available. They will be posted which two after the first pick of the boys has been made. All the girls are spoken for and we are so excited about the home all the pups are going to and the adventures they will have.

Everyone likes to go outside to potty and its a mass run to the door when its time, and be sure, they let me know when its time.

Next steps for these guys will be different types of socialization, travel, crate training and intro do gun fire, birds and water. Being born and raised at a gun club/hunting preserve has it’s privileges!

The First Litter…

What fun we had with this first litter!

Check back later in the month for an update as we will post puppy pictures and updates when Maddie delivers.

Austin’s Upland Delta on the Horizon

We kept Delta out of Maddie & Diesel’s first litter. Here she is pictured with some of her ribbons from her Started Hunting Retriever Trials. It took her just the two weekend to title. We sent her to Sydney for her training and couldn’t be more pleased.

Delta is a super sweet girl who loves to cuddle while turning it on in the field. She went on her first duck hunts with Sydney and we will have her in the upland field here at the club. We are excited to watch her as she matures and go on many hunting adventures with her.
